# 2938 2019 All Tournament Teams The All Tournament Teams for 2018 were announced at each final on Tuesday and Wednesday. The Most Valuable Player in Class A was Colin Peers (Fairport), in Class C, Sam Miller (Geneva), in Class D, Connor Fingar (Penn Yan) and in Class B, Jack LaRue (Victor). Players were selected on the basis of their performances in the Section Five Tournaments. |
# 2922 Geneva Wins 2nd Straight Title Geneva won their second back to back Class C Championship tonight against Wayne 10-1. The Panthers defeated the Eagles 13-2 last year. The Panthers were slowly plodding throughout the contest and added a few goals in each quarter. Midfielder Sam Miller was named the Class C All Tournament MVP after a 3g-3a day (60% of all goals). Additionally, goalie Brandon Wayne finished with an exceptional day, recording 13 saves. Of those, 10 came in the first half while holding the Eagles scoreless during that period. Both senior were instrumental in the success of the Panthers this season. |
# 2882 Canandaigua Come From Behind Win at Hilton Monday: DAY IN REVIEW: Canandaigua came back in the last quarter in a 11-10 come from behind win against Hilton. The Braves trailed for the entire contest prior to their final goal with 5:24 left on the clock. The Cadets, who led by three early in the game, could not tie the game for the sixth time in the final minutes. The scoring for Hilton was spread out with six players scoring a single goal and the leading scorer (Ryan Butts) finished with 2g-2a. For the Braves, Mark Belles led with 4g-1a. Face-off midfielder Shawn Doran finished 18/25 for Hilton, with a team leading 11 ground balls. |
# 2848 Finally Some Close Games Saturday: DAY IN REVIEW: After a number of days full of mismatches, a number of the six games played today were close ones. Penn Yan overcame a 7-3 defecit and scored six goals to force a tied with Canandaigua, who won in the first overtime period. Geneva played a close game with Greece, winning 10-6 after multiple late goals by Sam Miller. West Genesee was an 11-8 winner against Hilton and Pittsford lost an 8-7 game with G-M. Finally, Wayne was a 10-8 winner over Aquinas and, by the way, Victor posted a 17-2 win over Kettle Moraine (Wisconsin). |

# 1388 Weise Scores in Overtime to Lift Gananda Gananda’s John Weise scored the game winning goal during the first overtime period. The Blue Panthers defeated Wayne 9-8 after scoring four of the last five goals. Gananda opened up the game with the first two goals. Evan Smith scored off a feed from Jake Rapp followed by Rapp scoring off a feed from Weise. Wayne responded with five unanswered goals to go up 5-2 with 2:23 remaining in the half. Brett Cunningham scored the final goal of the half to put the Blue Panthers within two goals. |
# 1369 Wayne Wins Sixth Annual Cradle for the Cure In the second game of the Girls-Boys Double Header of the "Cradle for a Cure" program, the boy’s of Wayne defeated Pal-Mac 17-9. This marked the sixth annual "Cradle for a Cure" matchup to support a local family and Camp Good Days and Special Times. The local fundraising/awareness event is currently in its sixth year. # 1161 Monday: Midlakes, Victor and Wayne Win DAY IN REVIEW: Mid seventy degrees was a rare treat for the players in the three games played today. Midlakes (5-0) won it's fifth game in a row when they traveled to Bloomfield Honeoye. The Macdonell boys took care of most of the scoring as Ryan posted 7g and Brandon added 3g-3a. Zach Davison recorded 13 saves (59%) for the Eagles. For the Pride, Tyler Joslyn and Jon Marble each turned in 3g-1a. |
# 487 Gananda Takes Out Wayne Gananda won their seventh straight game this season, this time against previously undefeated Wayne 10-9. The Panthers had previously lost to Wayne 15-14 in overtime earlier in the season. The Blue Panthers were looking to knock off one of the three remaining undefeated teams. Gananda led for nearly the entire game with the Eagles only led once and only for 5:45 of the 48 minutes. |
